About Stat!
Stat! is a daily medical puzzle game from Blotter Games, made for medical students, nurses, trainees and anyone who enjoys clinical reasoning.
Stat! is a set of four daily medical puzzles made by Blotter Games, an independent game studio. Each day brings a new case to work up, a disease to deduce, a board of findings to sort and a structure to find in the body. The puzzles take a few minutes each, and they are the same for everyone.
Why we made it
Much of medicine is recall and reasoning under time pressure: recognizing a pattern of findings, knowing which question to ask next, remembering where a structure sits. Those skills improve with frequent, active practice, far more than with rereading notes. (Our article on learning with daily puzzles explains the evidence.)
Daily word games showed that a short puzzle can become part of millions of people's routines. Stat! applies the same idea to medicine: a small, satisfying challenge each day that exercises the way clinicians actually think.
Who it is for
Stat! is designed for medical, nursing and other health-profession students, residents and trainees, working clinicians who want a quick daily workout, and anyone curious about medicine. The puzzles use real clinical terminology, and the Learn section explains the ideas behind them in plain language.
The four games
- Syndrome: work up a patient with symptoms, vital signs, labs and imaging, then name the diagnosis in six tries.
- Traits: guess a disease and see how it compares with the hidden one on six traits, from organ system to treatment.
- Associations: sort sixteen clinical findings into the four diseases they belong to.
- Tangent: find a hidden organ, bone, muscle, vessel or nerve, with every guess drawn on a body map and colored by how close it is.
How the puzzles are built
Every puzzle is drawn from a curated library built for the game. It covers 250 diseases, 25 in each of ten body systems, each described by its traits, symptoms, laboratory and imaging findings, vital signs and examination signs. It also covers 349 anatomical structures: organs, bones, muscles, blood vessels and nerves, each placed on a map of the body. The daily puzzles are generated from that library, so the same disease can come back in a different game or with a different presentation, which is part of how the practice sticks.

Education, not medical advice
Stat! is a learning game. Cases are written for education, simplified on purpose and do not describe real patients. Nothing in the games or on this site is medical advice, and it is no substitute for professional care. If you have a health concern, talk to a qualified clinician.
